RWS Autumn Exhibition

The next Royal Watercolour Society exhibition at the Bankside Gallery is called ‘Watercolour Secrets’. This is because as well as an exhibition we are also launching a new book ‘Watercolour Secrets’ which shows the work of 76 RWS artists. Each artist describes how they feel about what they do/how they start/materials used/where their inspiration comes from and much more.

The Private View is at Bankside Gallery / October 2nd / 6-8pm

Do come along and see the paintings – and buy a copy of the book. Royalties go towards supporting the RWS in promoting water based media. IMG_0555

Children’s Books

IMG_5773 IMG_5774 IMG_5775

It’s not surprising that brought up on books like this ‘The Wally Pug of Why’ my siblings and I have vivid imaginations. I have the book – it belonged to my grandmother Nancy Goulden and was published by C. Arthur Pearson of Henrietta Street WC. My sister and I ( of course many years later and not together) also worked in publishing in Henrietta Street. I specially like below – not sure why the crocodile has a bandaged eye, but he is very kindly wheeling a weak cup of tea in a perambulator….. how am I still a sane person?

Cultivation & Creativity / Celebrating 210 Years of the RHS and RWS

There will be an Exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in November of RWS paintings on the above subject.

Have just finished 4 – when I say that I mean firstly I visited Hyde Hall in Essex and Wisley in Surrey. I’ve painted the paintings, I’ve found the frames, painted them white, cleaned the glass, cut bevelled mounts, put the paintings in the frames – pheeww!

I have now put them on hold until November ……..so that’s one thing off my very long ‘to do’ list.
