Here I am with the talented Danny (Alfred Daniels) who very kindly awarded me a prize!

The exhibition is at the Mall Galleries until 15 March, every day 10 – 5pm

I will be there on Tuesday 11 March after 1.30pm and Danny will be talking about his sketch books (which are wonderful and inspiring) today at 12pm. There are other events taking place during the exhibition.

Sad story about chickens

My sister has brought up and cherished several chickens – last week she had just 2 left which were hatched out in or maybe on her AGA some years ago. Last week, someone who was visiting came with a dog, not on a lead, which jumped out of the car and made off to where the chickens were, grabbed one of them and it was nearly the end – however with a lot of care and time and effort on her part, involving special baths (for the chicken) medication etc, not an easy task with a chicken, Lucky was restored to health and had only just got back in the Ark with her sister when – today – the same person showed up again, with the dog, still not on a lead and anyway he had PROMISED not to bring the dog again EVER –  it was Lucky’s sister who was attacked and this time there was no chance of recovery. So Lucky is now the lone survivor. How sad is that. Very, very upsetting.

Many reasons to be cheerful!

Yesterday was my most viewed post ever – no idea why but it’s nice anyway. It was very nice on Tuesday as I had both my nieces to supper, plus one friend – Daisy is at Wimbledon Art School in her second year and Izzy a couple of years younger wants to do fashion in London. Izzy’s friend Thomas has a place at Camberwell to do sculpture. I’m hoping what with me, Martin, one of my brothers David Winthrop, Daisy Garside, Izzy ER Winthrop, Thomas Allison, and Felix Garside we might get to be a bit of an artistic dynasty!Image

Reasons to be cheerful & trying something different!

This is Tom & Luna – she looks like a tiny astronaut – maybe that’s serendipity! Trying to do some different work and looking for inspiration from family.

An extra reason to be cheerful!

Of course it’s always good to sell a painting, but it’s very nice when you also meet the buyer.

This was painted in 2012 for the RWS Jubilee Exhibition and it’s the view from my window in Islington.
