The Royal Watercolour Society Elections and Spring Exhibition

Very busy few days at Bankside.

On Saturday about 30 Members of the RWS met in the gallery to elect ( hopefully ) some  new Associate Members. There were 29 applicants who had brought in 3 framed works, unframed works and sketch books or other relevant material. All work was carefully looked at by all Members and given A, B, C, D, E, F etc. Each of these letters equivalent to  so many points. These are then counted up and the six candidates with most points have their names written up on a blackboard. The each Member has an anonymous ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ vote. If a majority of Members present vote ‘yes’ then we have a new Member. If ‘no’ then the candidate is not elected. This process finished about 3pm and we have 4 new Members.

Bridget Moore / James Faure Walker / Jim Dunbar / Mike Middleton

Their paintings will be on show in the RWS Spring Show which opens at Bankside Gallery tomorrow (Thursday ).     Open daily 11 – 6    48 Hopton Street, SE1 9JH
