Royal Watercolour Society’s Autumn Dinner

Last Sunday evening, 29 RWS Members and their guests assembled at the Bankside Gallery for the annual Autumn Dinner. Sixty four people sitting at eight tables had a delicious candle lit supper provided by the latest up and coming restaurant in SE1 ‘The Table’. The restaurant is run by the charming Shaun Alpine-Crabtree – how could he not be with a name like that? His staff, including chefs brought the amazing food round from the restaurant on a trolley. We feasted on:

Home cured gravadlax with pickled cucumbers /salads of green beans, roast red onions and roast plum tomatoes/ roast peppers and baked ricotta / roast pumpkin, baked mushrooms and spinach. Grilled chicken and an exotic cous cous with pomegranate seeds and dates. A selection of tarts and home made Foccaccia. Phew!

Desserts were provided by me, Wendy (Vice President) and Annie. They included, lemon mousse, Boodles Orange Fool, St Clements Charlotte, cheesecake, and several more choices.

Thomas Plunkett ( RWS President ) gave a short, informal speech, presented some RWS Certificates (signed by the Queen). He also presented David Paskett (PPRWS) with some very classy watercolour brushes to say thankyou from the RWS for his 3 year Presidency.

All in all it was a very enjoyable occasion – ‘a swell evening’ as someone remarked!
